The legacy of its ancient culture has endured for centuries. Its art, its architecture, and its policies make it one of the most studied and well-known civilizations of all. Its political and democratic legacy still plays an important role in modern-day government.

Growing up on a Greek island not far from Athens – the birthplace of democracy – I was always aware of the weight of my country’s history. How could I not be?
